Shrine Staff
The staff presently working at this Shrine of Our Lady of Martyrs is
under the direction of Jesuits, who have a hallowed tradition of
ministry here, since Fr. Loyzance came over from Troy to buy ten acres
of land here in August of 1884.

Father Peter Murray, Director
Father Peter Murray, S.J. , Director of the Shrine of Our
Lady of Martyrs, was ordained in 1972. He led youth and
weekend retreats, and worked in other areas of ministries
(including High School teachig) during the 1970's. In 1981,
Father Murray moved into hospital ministry and was there for
more than 15 years, focusing on pastoral care for the sick,
and on staff relationships. Then,in 2002, Father Murray's
goal is to forge links between the missionary thrust of
Shrine, and the work of various Jesuits apostolates. In
addition, he is very interested in giving retreats in the
off-season!

Fr. Robert McGuire, S.J.
Father Robert McGuire, S.J. has been with the staff since
early in 2004, and has been a great addition. He brings
gifts of healing, love of liturgy and a sense of "Spirit
centered spirituality" to all who visit here. Father McGuire
coordinates with a team monthly mini-retreats which have
been also a valuable addition to the Shrine. Father McGuire
is likewise in charge of the Propagation of the Faith for
the New York Jesuit Province and the Apostleship of Prayer.
Father McGuire is completing a future screen play called
"Wanted" on the life of Blessed Miguel Pro, S.J. who was a
martyr during the Mexican persecution in the nineteen
twenties.
Another screenplay has been already been completed on the
life of Saint Isaac Jogues called "Blood Upon the Waters".

Tom Ralph
Tom joined the staff at Auriesville in April of 2004. He has owned his
own marketing company since 1985. In the past he has been a store
manager and district manager for several large retail companies.Tom
lives in Latham,N.Y. with his wife Fran and has 2 boys and 2
grandchildren His primary responsibiliy is Administrative Assistant and
Director of Marketing.

Brother Ted Bender
A new Jesuit has joined our Staff recently (March, 2005): He
is Brother Ted Bender, S.J., a man who has given many years
of service to the Church and Society of Jesus. Prior to
coming here, Bro. Bender served as administrator, Hospice
Minister, Nurse and Treasurer in numerous Jesuit
communities. He was also Program Director for Catholic
Relief Services in Zambia, Africa, from 1975-1980; and has a
great sense of the history and value of Auriesville Shrine,
having lived here at the Retreat center in the turbulent
years of 1994-1998. We welcome him to our midst!
